Hollywood is just getting boring. It's all biopics (like the upcoming film on the life of Philip K Dick starring Paul Giamatti) and remakes (yes, there's going to be another version of A Christmas Carol), which are much the same thing and operate by the same equation. Existing brand = built-in audience appeal.
