Exciting news for fight fans, I was looking up information on Greg Wolf Creek McLean's new film Rogue and stumbled across another film by the same name, starring Jet Li and Jason Statham.

I didn't learn too much about it, but what else could it be but a martial arts extravaganza (and a bit of a blow for Li, who's last film Fearless was supposed to be his 'last martial arts epic'. Stick to what you know, Jet old son).

Rusty Crowe might join Leonardo DiCaprio in Ridley Scott's new film that's already got tongues wagging because it's about Al Qeuda, and Brett Ratner is directing Brian Grazer's film on the life of Hugh Hefner.

Laurence Fishburne has snapped up Paulo Cohelo's love letter to travel as a mind-broadener The Alchemist, which Filmism thinks could be a great movie if it was made with the soul-searching, lift-us-above-materialism spirit of the book.

Interesting Spielberg news too this week. Shia Lebouf and director D J Caruso are teaming up again after their surprise hit Disturbia from a story by the Bearded One.

It got me thinking about Spielberg and writing – he almost never has a writer credit. The last movie credited to a script from him is Close Encounters of the Third Kind. I'm sure Steven would read Filmism.net news religiously – how about it, Steve? Tell us why...

Maybe when he and Tom Hanks visit Australian shores for their World War II in the Pacific epic they'll call in...
