The Money Pit

Year: 1986
Director: Richard Benjamin
Producer: Steven Spielberg
Cast: Tom Hanks, Shelley Long, Alexander Gudonov, Maureen Stapleton

A bit of a one joke movie made funnier than it should have been by adept leading actors. Hanks and Long play a young couple doing up their dream house – which turns into a nightmare as more and more pieces of it fall off, break, are destroyed in sequences of slapstick or just don't work.

The audience basically follows their trials and tribulations as they try to keep their sanity (and marriage) together through the whole thing. Cute script and funny scenes, although it would have fallen flat without the comic energy of Hanks' way out performance.
