The Morning After

Year: 1986
Production Co: Lorimar Productions
Director: Sidney Lumet
Cast: Jane Fonda, Jeff Bridges, Raul Julia
It's apparently an allegory about getting older and losing your sex appeal. I might have been too young to get that, because not much stands out from this (I gather) run of the mill thriller).

Fonda plays a hard-drinking, ageing party girl who awakens after a one night stand to find the guy she's shagged has been murdered.

She has to try to piece together the drunken night to work out if she killed the guy or worse - she'll be next.

This film is to Lumet what A Prairie Home Companion was to Altman - very much his style, but minor in his whole canon.
