The Prophecy

Year: 1995
Production Co: First Look International
Director: Gregory Widen
Writer: Gregory Widen
Cast: Christopher Walken, Eric Stoltz, Virginia Madsen, Elias Koteas, Viggo Mortenson, Amanda Plummer
This film showed great promise as a thrilling blend of cult sci-fi and a more serious, Omen-like approach.

Looking back, it's hard to see where it went wrong. There was some great attention to visual detail (such as the way the angels and demons sit on the backrests of chairs) but the whole thing ended up so devoid of character and charisma and just felt so dry and uninviting.

It's got to do with the archangel Gabriel (Walken) coming to Earth to hatch a plot to cause human to fall out of God's favour. A good angel (Stoltz) has followed Gabriel to try and stop him, and humanity is caught up in the middle.

I remember almost no details about the plot apart from the concept, which just goes to show how little an impact it made.
