Teenagers of the 2000s might be surprised that the current crop of (mostly rubbish) video game adaps aren't the first time Hollywood's mined the game industry for ideas. The difference is that back then gaming was a poor cousin to movies, now it's as big or bigger depending on who you believe.

Not that it made a difference to the quality of the films then or know, this effort a fun enough but mostly silly hero's tale as martial arts expert and army commander Guile (Van Damme) leads an international military effort against the evil Bison (Julia, in his last role), various characters from he game weighing in here and there.

It was trippy to see characters we'd only seen in 8 bit colour bought to life by real people, and before the Australian invasion of Hollywood it was novel in itself to see an Australian actress in a big Hollywood movie, but Our Kylie blazed the trail in this mostly forgettable action thriller.
