Star Kathleen Turner and Michael Douglas obviously liked each other, teaming up again for this film after the Romancing the Stone series. Not all her costars were as impressed, Burt Reynolds once telling a TV audience she tried to get him fired from Switching Channels.

This movie might be about Jack Colton and Joan Wilder after settling down in suburbia and being married ten years. Barbara (Turner) and Oliver decide they hate each other and will do anything to get the other out of their palatial house in the nasty divorce proceeding they launch.

It's a slightly over the top allegory about the bitterness of breaking up, but director De Vito, who also plays the divorce attorney bookending the story, tells it by bringing a darkly comic style to the screen.
