The Wild Geese

Year: 1978
Production Co: Richmond Productions
Director: Andrew V McLaglen
Writer: Reginald Rose
Cast: Richard Burton, Roger Moore, Richard Harris, Stewart Granger

The era of rollicking World War 2 movies was drawing to a close when this film came out, many of the cast's best days behind them.

So what a surprise I had when I read about this film after seeing it as a kid and not remembering a thing about it to discover it wasn't about World War 2 at all but a team of British mercenaries flying into Africa for a rescue mission.

Everything about it from the cast to the poster seems cut from the same cloth as Where Eagles Dare, The Dirty Dozen and films like them.

All I remember is that it was worth a look.
