Welcome back – after a very long absence on our part – to the Filmism.net dispatch. While we redesigned things behind the scenes the old site kind of sat there, and while it wasn't supposed to take as long as it did we're back now with a shiny new site full of even more news, reviews, interviews and views.

We're on Facebook! We're on Twitter! If you know of anyone else who might like this newsletter, tell them to sign up. As you read this we're posting news, tweets, links, trailers and opinions aplenty.

So with that, I can't not mention David Fincher's The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo remake and how conflicted it makes me feel. I mean, it's Fincher – I can't not see it. But yet another remake of a foreign smash hit? They rarely excel, ranging from serviceable (Let Me In) to crap (The Grudge, which I have to admit I haven't seen but haven't read anything good about).

I'm fully prepared to be impressed as there are few cinema craftsman with as much skill working today, as The Social Network further proved. But I'll go into it with reservations, especially as I found the original kind of vapid.

Luckily there's always Young Doctors in Love, which I revisited recently and which never lets me down.
