It seems the Soska twins, two filmmaker sisters from Vancouver, are trying to corner the market in their own brand of feminist exploitation films. Their hearts are in the right place, but their talent might lie elsewhere. This very earnest effort gets top marks for trying, very few for quality – even in the canon of exploitation films where low quality is the high water mark.

The writer/directors play sisters Badass and Geek, who embark on a simple drive with their friends the Junkie and a Bible study nerd who has the hots for Geek, when they discover a dead hooker in their trunk. A motley collection of killers, psychos and crazies are on their trail for various reasons, and things turn bloody as they try to dispose of the body and void being next.

Without the outrageous gore, this film would have had absolutely nothing going for it. The girls at least have the balls to amp up the sex, violence and bloodshed to align the film to the trappings of the genre. In one scene, Geek falls victim to the serial killer stalking the group when he either hits or stabs her in the head, poking her eyeball completely out. The poor girl is understandably shocked and in pain, but seems to get over the loss suspiciously quickly, tying a blindfold around herself and ultimately transfomring into an urban vigilante.

Nothing about the film is high quality, to the extent the audio is abysmal and you can hardly hear what people are saying. They know their genre, but they didn't have either the money or talent to make it a worthy entry into it.
