As I write this, there's still no word who the next James Bond will be. Pierce Brosnan has been clear he isn't interested in returning, and why would he? Of all the actors who've played Bond, he's the only one who hasn't suffered bad typecasting (Connery doesn't count – he didn't play anyone else successfully while he was Bond).

Eric Bana has been rumoured and dismissed, there's also talk of Jude Law and a pantheon of other possible Bonds (including the idea of having a woman Bond and even more ridiculous, letting Quentin Tarantino direct one!)

But nobody else has mentioned the obvious choice. Urbane, suave, handsome, classy – who else but Rupert Everett?
