I've just watched the Charlie and Chocolate Factory trailer and it looks bad.
Whereas Gene Wilder's Willy Wonka had a subtlety and a hint of danger and mystery about him, the Willy Wonka Johnny Depp depicts in the trailer looks nothing more than a grinning idiot. Together with the completely stupid song in the trailer and slapstick antics, it looks like it's going to be a base-level moronic kids comedy.
Unless marketing executives at Warner bros know what they're doing and that's part of the plan to keep the darkness in secrecy.
