After huge fanfare and advance buzz everyone thought would translate into massive box office, the $53m double feature has limped home after the first weekend with a take of just over $10m. It's a far cry from Tarantino's usual tenfold profit and while Grindhouse will no doubt have a stupendous life on DVD, it might also mean another nail in the coffin of original cinema as another 'experiment' bites the dust and studios back more Norbits and Wild Hogs.
Also in the news is the death of Wonder Woman, with wunderkind Joss Whedon pulling out and the project suspended, the signing of Cate Blanchett to Indiana Jones 4 and Zack 300 Snyder's return to the zombie genre with Army of the Dead.
