Peter Jackson has no fealty to any one studio. After his ongoing legal battle (turned personal spray against chief Bob Shaye) with New Line over Lord of the Rings profits he landed at Universal to do King Kong . Now he's jumped ship again to Dreamworks to handle The Lovely Bones.

The sequels are coming thick and fast as always, follow-ups to The Lost Boys and (if you can believe it) Wall Street announced. The latter has Michael Douglas attached – maybe he'll be in a home for extreme capitalists.

Among the most intriguing is Clash of the Titans , which might have been another studio-sanctioned video game clone, but for Lawrence Kasdan writing the screenplay.

Studio and franchises continue to change hands, with both The Terminator series and the properties of Hammer Studios landing with new owners, both intending to revive the respective institutions.
