A shout out to Robert Downey Jr in this edition. It seemed only a couple of years ago he was tabloid fodder – high most of the time, in and out of court on weapons and possession charges and even doing stints inside. Now suddenly he's not just back, he's tearing the box office up again with two of the year's biggest performers, Iron Man and Tropic Thunder. The man's life itself would make a good movie.

I'm completely unexcited and uninspired by the prospect of the Watchmen movie, I think we've all seen as many black leather clad superheroes as we can handle, and this looks like nothing more than a movie about a whole troupe of them. I was really interested however to see that current distributor Warner Bros are facing a legal scrap with 20th Century Fox over who has the rights. Maybe it'll can the whole project and we won't have to endure it.

There's a Poltergeist remake on the horizon, and direct to DVD fourth Naked Gun instalment and if I were you I'd sell all my shares in News Ltd, both of Fox's 2008 tentpole summer movies (The Happening and The X Files: I Want to Believe) pretty much bombing.
