Riveting remade character study following the deliberations of a jury in a seemingly open and shut murder case on a sweltering afternoon in New York and set entirely in the jury room. Everyone is agreed of the defendant's guilt and couldn't care less if he gets the chair as long as they can get back to their ball game or lawn mowing but Lemmon keep throwing a spanner in the works, wanting to properly establish the facts. Outstanding performances aided by a script that draws some of the best characterisations ever seen on film as opinions, personalities and beliefs ebb and flow according to the discussion.
