Chronicling the life and times of New York's seminal 1970's nightclub as seen through the eyes of an employee who quickly rises through the ranks of cool, the plot is thin, the performances thinner, and it would have made a much better documentary centred around the character of Steve Rubell.

Ryan Phillipe is the prettyboy who has to circumnavigate the world of being beautiful and hip among the in crowd, try to get the girl of his dreams (a singer played by Neve Campbell), deal with his struggling singer friend (Salma Hayek) and avoid the slimy, drug-addled eye of Rubell (Mike Myers - a shock without the Austin Powers makeup and hair) while not putting him too offside.
