The curse of the third movie struck the Trainspotting and Shallow Grave crew with this well intentioned but most misfiring action comedy.

Ewan MacGregor is a petty crook who kidnaps the daughter of a rich industrialist (Diaz) intending to extract a ransom, only to discover not only that she's a much better criminal than he is, but that he's falling for her as well.

While most fans could probably relate every beat of the rest of the Boyle canon, I'll bet far fewer of them can remember what actually happens in the movie. I certainly can't. In fact it's when you realise that Boyle's usual screenwriter Alex Garland had nothing to do with it that you realise what was missing.
