How do you make a movie about a bunch of guys doing an amateur porn film and do it sweetly and with heart?
While not the funniest film of the year, this effort gets the balance right. It depicts a bunch of lovable small town losers who are always down on their luck, led by Andy (Bridges), who always comes up with money-making schemes that rarely work.
In one of his signature thinking ruts, he hits upon the idea of making an amateur porn film, and the hijinks that ensue range between predictable love stories and surprisingly good comedy and comedic performances, and the result is funny and cute, with hardly any of the lazy titillation you'd expect.
