Part of the appeal of any American Pie movie (owing to the foundations laid down in the original) is that it will contain more of the same; more of the characters you've followed and especially more of the gross out gags.
Instead of the last year at school, now it's the first year of college, and the same gags, premise and characters are now set against themes of how growing up does change you and how some friendships and relationships grow or weaken.
Therein lies the heart they try to give to at least some of the content of an American Pie movie, culminating in Jim (Biggs) realising he loves Michelle by finally having the chance to shag hot exchange student Nadia (Elizabeth) but realising he has no interest in her.
Cute and funny but already getting tired.
