A study into the life of a satirical character that makes a comment on modern western life; that in the cut throat world of business, finance, and the pursuit of money, there can be a real cut throat who fits in perfectly.
The symbolism is fairly obtuse and there is little plot in the story other than a few days in the life of Patrick Bateman (Bale), a Wall Street raider who happens to be a psychotic murderer.
It finishes on a confusing note and doesn't say much more than the subtext, at leats not to me. It might reveal more layers on repeated viewings.
