Bedazzled
Year: | 2000 |
Director: | Harold Ramis |
Cast: | Brendan Fraser, Elizabeth Hurley, Frances O'Connor, Orlando Jones |
I didn't realise until after the fact that this was a remake, and it's a fairly sweet and mildly funny romantic comedy made better than it should have been in the hands of director Ramis.
Fraser is an annoying nerd who nobody likes who harbours a secret crush on the girl of his dreams (O'Connor). When a sultry, vampish woman (Hurley) shows up claiming to be Satan and promising him anything in return for his soul, he embarks on a Scrooge-like quest to find that the grass is never greener on the other side as each new 'perfect' life he inhabits comes with a nasty catch courtesy of his underworld benefactor until he learns that his life wasn't so bad after all.
