As Australian as any Australian movie purported to be in the era, with characters and institutions that we rather than Americans can immediately identify with (like the Melbourne Art and Design TAFE college), but till not much chop in the entertainment stakes.

Danny (Mendelsohn) has the hots for local babe Joanna (Karvan) and really wants to own a Jaguar. After shifty car dealer (Bisley) swaps motors in the one he's bought and fate deals his romance a blow, he finds himself in tangles in both situations, and the rest of movie deals with his revenge against the car yard's dodgy crew and his efforts to reclaim the heroine's heart.

Everything works out neatly but the laughs are sparse and nothing original.
