Spoiler!
Small scale, tightly scripted thriller that sees Kurt Russell and wife Kathleen Quinlan terrorised by a group of psycho truckers who crisscross America's heartland running their scam; kidnapping spouses and having their other half pay a ransom.
But they've met their match in Kurt (in full nice-guy mode). The late J T Walsh, M C Gainey and a small crew of nasties do a great job as the American Gothic-inspired kidnappers, and you'll be on the edge of your seat most of the way through thanks to good acting, natural performances, the guesswork that carries the first two thirds of the film and the deft hand of future Terminator 3 helmer Mostow.
