A very studio comedy about a bozo small time sailor (Russell) who shows a family the time of their lives - maybe because he's just a carefree loser and it was all providence, or maybe (as the last scene suggests with a wink) because he's actually wise and knew just what he was doing.
Martin Short loses something by playing the straight man instead of the comic strengths he worked so well in everything from Three Amigos to Three Fugitives.
