Chicken Run

The Wallace & Grommit creators cash in on their slowly building fame in Hollywood by churning out this story in the vein of A Bugs Life, Ice Age in their own clay model-type animation style. A bunch of chickens on a British farm dream of freedom, inspired by the idealistic young chick who spurs them on.

World War II parallels are played for laughs as cocky, glamourous American rooster Rocky (Gibson) shows up and throws the British lasses and military status quo (represented by a crusty old RAF type) into chaos. Together they try to convince everyone to fly the coop. It works all the way through, with some very funny characterisations, tight writing and a feel-good Hollywood plot that all comes together nicely.
