City Slickers II: The Legend of Curley’s Gold
Year: | 1994 |
Director: | Paul Weiland |
Writer: | Lowell Ganz/Babaloo Mandel |
Cast: | Billy Crystal, Daniel Stern, Jack Palance, Jon Lovitz, Patricia Wettig, David Paymer, Pruitt Taylor Vince |
Trying for the same thing again and only marginally succeeding this time, largely because most of the comedy came out of the charisma that Crystal, Stern and former co-star Kirby shared.
This time around it's just a silly comedy. Curley's twin brother Duke (Palance), a sea dog rather than a landlubber, convinces Mitch (Crystal) that Curley left a fortune buried somewhere in the desert, and that they have to saddle up again to retrieve it.
Inserting Jon Lovitz into the hole left by Kirby was a valiant try but he's more of an idiot-style comic and it doesn't really suit the movie.
