The Clearing

Year: 2004
Studio: Fox Searchlight
Director: Pieter Jan Brugge
Writer: Pieter Jan Brugge
Cast: Robert Redford, Helen Mirren, Willem Dafoe
Despite virtuoso performances from some very accomplished performers, the story goes absolutely nowhere, seems to have no resolution and no real point.

A businessman (Redford) is kidnapped one morning leaving his house and taken into the woods by a captor (Dafoe), while his wife (Mirren) and their two children wait in fear watching the police try to do something.

Not interesting enough to be a drama, not thrilling enough to be a thriller.
