Dragonslayer

Too old and dated to be really exciting - but a fairly timeless idea pretty well executed.

Teen hunk of the time Peter MacNichol plays a sorcerers apprentice to master Ralph Richardson, sought out by a band of villagers from far away to rid their land of a dragon they have to keep at bay by offering the monthly sacrifice of a nubile virgin.

After the old man's death, the hero shuffles off confident he can slay the beast, and becomes embroiled in the local politics of the village while falling in love with the woman who sought his help and trying to kill the monster.

A pretty professional casting and acting job by all concerned, but production that was either inexpensive at the time or just looks like the set of a soft porn film through age.
