And undoubtedly like some of those people, I didn't find it very funny. And some of the things I've read since have made me think maybe I came at it from the wrong angle, expecting another Holy Grail or Yellowbeard. A lot of people seem to believe it was a razor sharp social commentary with a classic anti-hero as Eric (Robbins) goes from one mishap to another on a raping and pillaging raid to find Valhalla.
It might be time to revisit it, particularly as I was 18 at the time and obsessed with Batman, but I photographically remember some lines that were supposed to be funny and weren't, so a second viewing won't be any time soon. Jones is not quite Gilliam.
