Spoiler!
Early Fincher but no less accomplished for it (not when you consider Alien 3 came after it.

Michael Douglas is a typical overworked executive with no time for fun and games, until a beautiful, mysterious stranger comes into his life at about the same time as his slightly enigmatic, ne'er do well brother (Penn).

The woman tells him a desperate story of mystery and intrigue, one he has little choice but to follow to satisfy his curiosity, one that will lead him on a path through a very dangerous game (hint; the answer's in the title!).

Classic plot-driven storytelling where one turn opens another door that only leads you to a new mystery. The reveal is, while a stretch, satisfying, a contrivance it was undoubtedly a lot of fun to imagine and write.
