The Getaway

Year: 1994
Studio: Universal
Director: Roger Donaldson
Writer: Walter Hill
Cast: Alec Baldwin, Kim Basinger, James Woods, Michael Madsen, Jennifer Tilly, David Morse, Richard Farnsworth
A tight, snappy script makes for a very cool heist movie that they don't try to urbanise by making it all 'noir-y' as husband and wife crims (Baldwin and Basinger) are trying to flee to Mexico in this remake of the Steve McQueen/Ali McGraw film of the early 70s.

The direction and writing keeps things happening at a cracking pace and some very effective villains are played by Woods at his menacing best, Morse as one of his stone-faced henchmen and the always chilling Madsen who gets a delicious comeuppance. Fairly hot sex scenes between the then-married leads provided necessary downtime from the action.
