Ghost in the Machine

Year: 1993
Studio: 20th Century Fox
Director: Rachel Talalay
Cast: Karen Allen, Chris Mulkey
A pretty lame thriller spawned from a good idea as a psychopath digitises himself through a CAT scan machine to menace a woman and her young son.

The various limitations of a digital computer signal are overcome in scientifically ridiculous and dramatically stupid ways by having him plunge along electrical wires and then manifest himself in a hokey nanoparticle swarm. Admittedly it was prophetic in 1993 but with less 'middle of the road thriller-ness' and a more scientific basis it could have been a brilliant story for the approaching millennium.
