Hardly Working
Jerry Lewis' 'comeback' movie. If all the rest of this were like this I don't know why he was such a legend in the first place. True, his schtick is funny, but a discerning filmgoer would not see the humour in a solid ninety minutes of this kind of goofery. For lovers of the most lowbrow slapstick (which I am plenty of the time), it's an hour and a half of belly laughter at the expense of a complete idiot (which I suppose is Lewis' shtick summed up to a T). The paper-thin plot is an excuse for an unemployed moron to bounce from one job to another, all carefully set up to extract the most bumbling gags from.
