High Road to China
Year: | 1983 |
Production Co: | Pan Pacific Productions |
Studio: | Warner Bros |
Director: | Brian G Hutton |
Cast: | Tom Selleck, Bess Armstrong, Wilford Brimley, Robert Morley |
A straight to video effort (in Australia at least) riffs on Romancing the Stone and borrows much more liberally from Raiders of the Lost Ark, ironically in this case as star Tom Selleck was originally cast as Indiana Jones but his Magnum PI schedule wouldn't let him do it.
He plays a pilot who teams up with leading lady Bess Armstrong as a spoiled rich girl who saddles him into looking for her businessman father.
Or something - the plot's as much a fragment of memory as the old Roadshow video ident that bookended every movie on video released through them in Australia in the 80s, complete with compression thanks to the reduced aspect ratio of TV.
