This film was so unimpactful it would be nothing without the presence of the world's biggest movie star.

As such it's a mystery what Cruise saw in it, although Crowe in the director's chair obviously affected his decision, resulting in a relationship that would continue through to Vanilla Sky.

Cruise plays a callous sports agent who gets fired (I think, from the very dim memory), starts his own agency and learns the value of humanity by falling in love with Renee Zellweger.

And all the while a then-new Cuba Gooding Jr. is stealing every scene and showing great promise he squandered in Disney movies.

From what I remember, it was all about the kid (Lipnicki), seeming to be sold in the marketing and subsequent press as the Macauley Culkin of the 90s. Nothing made it special.

For trivia fans, the production company is also responsible for The Simpsons.
