The King and I
Year: | 1956 |
Studio: | 20th Century Fox |
Director: | Walter Lang |
Writer: | Ernest Lehman/Oscar Hammerstein |
Cast: | Deborah Kerr, Yul Brynner |
A Friday night TV movie staple for me from way back, this is the immortal story of a teacher (Kerr) who travels to Siam (modern day Thailand) to be the nanny to the self-absorbed King's (Brynner) children and who makes more of an impression on him than anyone imagined.
It will impress kids and musical romantics more than anyone. It's a sweet and cute tale and Brynner is over the top and on top of his form.
