Jet Li doing what he does best, being an ineffectual cute little Chinese guy until they push him too far. He's the ultimate hero - we love him for having this sweet, innocent air and then for kicking the shit out of bad guys twice his size. Just watch him and the black boxer who makes him look like a little boy.

A by-numbers plot with corrupt Paris police chief Tcheky Karo and bedraggled hooker Bridget Fonda (her first role after a long absence from the screen) sees Li on a chase to clear his name after coming to France to help Karo's character apprehend a crime lord, only to be betrayed and marked for death by the crooked cops.

He teams up with Fonda's hooker, who's daughter is being held hostage by the same cop to ensure her subservience, and they fight their way across Paris to deliver the final blow, the very marketable 'kiss of the dragon', which immobilises the victim while they slowly die, conscious and aware of what's happening to them. The last move where Li delivers it to Karo is a corker.
