Knock Off

Year: 1998
Production Co: MDP Worldwide
Director: Hark Tsui
Cast: Jean Claude van Damme, Rob Schneider, Paul Sorvino
Interesting not for being one of the late movies in van Damme's career to be in any way good (and yes, few of even his early films are but if it's mindless beat-em-ups you want, there have been great ones by that yardstick) but for having a sidekick in Rob Schneider, playing against the type that would be his m.o. - the gormless, lovable, dolt with no brains.

It's got something to do with crooked business partners Schneider and van Damme importing knock offs brands of western goods (or stopping them? Or are they cops or something?) with lots of fights. Even though the plot is long gone in the mists of time, it hung together well and delivered a decent amount of thrills and action.
