Langoliers

Year: 1995
Production Co: Laurel Entertainment
Director: Tom Holland
Writer: Tom Holland/Stephen King
Cast: David Morse, Bronson Pinchot, Dean Stockwell, Patricia Whettig, Mark Lindsay Chapman, Stephen King

Stephen King's story was a startling new take on the time travel genre as a group of plane passengers find themselves having 'slipped out' of the motion of time into a world where the 'used' world is eaten up by little monsters called Langoliers.

It only works on screen because this TV adaptation stayed loyal to the book and didn't try to rework or reimagine it as most adaptations do. Despite TV-cheap special effects, the characterisations and drama drive the story and together with King's thoroughly original premise, they offer a very entertaining movie.
