By his own admission in the film, Philip Seymour Hoffman was never very political, but he transformed himself into an everyday activist student type to tread the boards of political corruption and the mess American' democracy's gotten itself into in this fascinating doco.

He was also the conduit through which the lucky producers got a wealth of big names to speak on the topic at hand, from Jesse Jackson to Michael Moore, Tim Robbins to Ben Harper, Noam Chomksy to Rudolf Giuliani.

Hoffman and the film document the last six months of the 2000 US presidential elections, shining a light on the riches, power plays and ultimately the swindle it all became.

None of it's terribly new and has been covered in films and books before, but there are so many stories in this particular conflagration, and this is as enraging and enlightening to watch as the best of them.
