Legend

Year: 1985
Studio: 20th Century Fox
Director: Ridley Scott
Producer: Arnon Milchan
Cast: Tom Cruise, Mia Sara, Tim Curry
Lavish-looking fairytale in a time when the fantasy genre was at a low point, probably owes Tom Cruise his future success by bringing him to the attention of producers like Simpson and Bruckheimer (who later forged his stardom for him). Slow and moody in points (the appearance of Curry's demon from the mirror is ingeniously photographed) and without a lot of plot development. As much allegory as story of Satan trying to win over mankind's innocence in the form of beautiful young girl (Sara), with handsome Prince (Cruise) trying to protect her in a world of slimy and evil monsters. Fairly timeless so still works well today.
