Misery

Year: 1990
Production Co: Castle Rock
Studio: Columbia
Director: Rob Reiner
Producer: Rob Reiner
Writer: Stephen King
Cast: James Caan, Kathy Bates, Richard Farnsworth
Without nearly the amount of detail of the Stephen King novel, nevertheless a good character study and one of Bates' earliest showpieces playing psycho Nurse who rescues (then takes prisoner) her favourite author who's crashed his car near her small town farm. One of Caan's earliest performances after a long absence from the screen, one which gave him much better material to work with than the shocker Alien Nation. Tense throughout as we learn the extent of Annie's psychosis and the lengths she'll go to to keep Paul prisoner.
