Mortal Kombat: Annihilation

Year: 1997
Studio: New Line Cinema
Director: John R Leonetti
Cast: James Remar, Robin Shou
Paul Anderson jumped ship and left this sequel to the 1995 video game adap in the hands of unknowns.

I can't remember a thing about the plot or whether it had anything to do with any of the video games in the series, but you couldn't like the original at least on some level and not like this too.

It had the same silly videogame-style characters spouting video game-quality dialogue, but with a budget that wrangled quite decent effects as its predecessor did, it's solidly entertaining in a Transformers -lite kind of way.
