Long before Ethan Hawke wedged his cool hate firmly on his head, he appeared in this small, ineffectual little action comedy drama. He plays a young man who wants to impress a beautiful girl he's seen on the beach, succeeds in getting a date with her, and then gets mixed up with mob killers because of his older brothers' shad connections.
No subtext, nothing outstanding, just a teen movie that's a bit smarter than the rest, but in leaving out so many teen movie conventions, it doesn't really know who it's for.
