National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation

Year: 1989
Studio: Warner Bros
Director: Jeremiah Chechik
Producer: John Hughes
Writer: John Hughes
Cast: Chevy Chase, Beverley D'Angelo, John Randolph, Juliette Lewis, Randy Quaid
Did the wheels fall off the Vacation franchise? Did it ever have wheels? Even the original was a pastiche of set pieces and gags that were more a collection of skits than a movie.

This time around, series favourites (to the producers, anyway) the inbred, outlander Johnson family come by to spend Christmas with the Griswolds, and as things go from bad to worse, Clark (Chase) has little to cling to to stay sane except for the Christmas bonus he's expecting.

Little comic value apart from a bunch more gags and regular employment for Beverley D'Angelo for years on end.
