Out of Africa

Year: 1985
Production Co: Mirage Entertainment
Director: Sydney Pollack
Producer: Sydney Pollack
Cast: Meryl Streep, Robert Redford
I barely remember this 1985 Oscar magnet from Sydney Pollack. My memory of it was that it's the same story as The Bridges of Madison County. Streep is Karen, a Danish landowner in Africa, who meets for the free spirited, full-of-life Denys (Redford). They embark on a passionate and romantic affair against the natural beauty of the landscape but can't continue with it as she's married.

I remember beautiful scenery and a genuine love for the land in the cinematography, and Pollack hasn't been this grandiose as a director ever since.
