A strange story about a strange guy (Reeves) that seems to shift and evolve into different things as time passes. It starts out at a seemingly honest look at young life through the eyes of an alienated (and fairly alien) teenager, then changes gears to depict a scheme where he kidnaps his father (Ward). The romance with Madigan underpins whatever story there is, but because of the lack of identity, it doesn't seem to have much plot or much point.
