Princess Diaries 2

Year: 2004
Director: Garry Marshall
Cast: Anne Hathaway, Julie Andrews, Hector Elizondo, John Rhys-Davies, Heather Matarazzo
As entertaining as a Disney branded film can be, aimed squarely at the tween market of Mary Kate and Ashley fans.

The continuing story of Mia (tween and Disney darling Hathaway), princess of the fictitious country Genovia (modelled on a cross between Italy and Liechtenstein), now coming into her own but still the gawky American teenager fans still love.

Her coming of age means she'll assume the throne from her grandmother, Queen Clarice (Andrews), and a dastardly plot by a member of Genovian parliament to force her to marry his disarming son to hijack power in the country goes awry when Mia and the lad fall for each other instead.

The fixtures from the original (like Matarrazo as Mia's best friend and Elizondo as the head of royal security) are all there and the plot travels well, but Disney have made sure it's more of the same. Andrews is the picture of grace and elegance as the wise and lovable Queen.
