The Rainbow Warrior Conspiracy

Year: 1989
Director: Chris Thomson
Cast: Jack Thompson, Gary Day, Bruno Lawrence
An interesting little (and very 80s) Australasian telemovie about the sordid episode of the Rainbow Warrior's bombing in Auckland Harbour by French secret agents.

For anyone who's interested in the story behind the headlines, it's well acted, pretty well written, and as a point of interest, was a very early job for cinematographer Andrew Lesnie, who now works with a certain Peter Jackson.

There was a time when Australia had as little money as it has for cinema and TV productions as it does now, but was content to let projects work on the strength of scripts and actors alone, and along with shows like The Great Bookie Robbery and Blue Murder
